This is spot on! It’s so important to have a basic understanding of AI before using it, and I totally agree about keeping our own voice and thinking, even with AI around.
While a professor I made it clear that I would rather see spelling or grammatical errors in original work than error- free plagiarized work. Make sure that is how you evaluate students' work.

Discuss why it is important to communicate your own thoughts in your own words, not with words stolen from other writers. Yes, stolen! Happened to me- entire books and all original artwork taken without my consent.
